Rising fives
Get ready for school!
We offer weekly "Rising Fives" sessions in the summer term for children who will be moving on to school. These optional sessions are specially crafted to support your child's learning and prepare them for the kinds of activities and routines they will encounter when they start primary school.

We have a brilliant relationship with our local primary school, Petersfield Church of England Aided Primary School in Orwell. During the summer term we welcome teachers from Petersfield into pre-school to visit our school-bound children and chat with them about starting school. They also kindly invite our rising fives to some of their events throughout the year such as the Christmas nativity play and church services.
Each week, children also receive a pack crammed with books, games and more to do together at home. These packs can be kept for a week (or longer if you prefer) and then brought back the following week to swap for a new one.
What's in my child's pack?
Books to read together at home, including introductions to phonics concepts and counting.
Activities like lacing to practise dexterity and concentration.
Puzzles like jigsaws and shape matching puzzles.
All sorts of fun games to play, including number and shape matching games, counting games, dominoes, and much more!
